Associate Underwriter, Supplemental Health

Guardian is seeking an Underwriting Associate, Supplemental Health, to support our rapidly growing supplemental health insurance market. This role is responsible for profitably expanding our supplemental health portfolio and serving as a key resource for sales and cross-functional teams.
You will
- Drive profitable growth of the supplemental health block
- Serve as a subject matter expert on products, services, and pricing
- Provide consultative underwriting services, including plan design analysis, enrollment strategies, broker/tech vendor partnerships, and expense management
- Collaborate throughout the quote process to ensure accurate rate development and effective decision-making
- Support customers nationwide, including West Coast partners
- Review submissions for comprehensive risk assessment, considering plan design, expenses, enrollment approach, and state-specific requirements
- Advise sales partners on plan adequacy, rate levels, and risk-related matters
- Coordinate with Pricing, Product, and Enrollment teams for complex scenarios
- Refine risk analysis processes and provide recommendations to leadership
- Maintain regular communication with sales and cross-functional partners
- Develop customized and standard broker rate sheets for new business and renewals
- Support management and team initiatives and projects
- Demonstrate confidence, problem-solving skills, and analytical acumen
You have
- A Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- A minimum three years of group benefits underwriting experience to include rating and quoting preferred
- Experience with supplemental health products (Accident, Critical Illness, Cancer), a plus
- Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Proficiency with Guardian tools, systems, and emerging AI applications
- Skilled in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and open to adopting advanced AI-enhanced applications

Location
This is a remote position.
Salary Range:
$49,260.00 - $73,890.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
