This position is primarily based in a location within PNC's footprint. Responsibilities require time in the office or in a field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities can be performed remotely. Additional locations may be considered.

As a Technology Engineer Sr. within PNC's Technology organization, you can be based in Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Birmingham AL, Dallas TX or Phoenix AZ.

You must be a top-level Linux server system engineer, with extensive experience in Red Hat Linux 8 or 9. Skills and experience with Ubuntu Pro are desirable as well. The candidate will be responsible for product ownership of the Linux operating system at PNC. The candidate will define standards for the operating system. The candidate will create and maintain product roadmaps, standards guides, configuration guides, hardening guides, standard operating procedures, and other forms of documentation. The candidate will be responsible for server build templates. The candidate must conceptualize, test, and provide solutions to meet business needs. The candidate will participate in a regular weekly rotation where you will be on call for escalations from the Level 2 Site Reliability Center, and to perform occasional after-hours change work.

Required Skills:
• A sense of ownership and responsibility for maintaining the standards, currency, security, and viability of the Linux Server operating systems at PNC.
• Must be proficient and productive in documentation. Must possess superior and consistent written documentation skills. Candidate must be proficient in producing roadmaps and technical guides to be used by provisioning teams and support teams.
• Experience deploying servers in Azure or AWS cloud is desirable.
• A self-starter with time management skills, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.

In addition:
• Experience in a large (22,000+ Linux servers) 24/7 environment.
• Must be able to communicate clearly.
• Experience dealing with Linux vulnerabilities and their remediation.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory is desirable but not required.
• Ability to write Ansible automation.
• Ability to script in bash.
• Knowledge of IP networks, firewalls, and proxies.
• Red Hat or Ubuntu certifications are preferred but not required.
