A Brief Overview

The Security Administration Specialist position helps develop the company's written guidelines for sensitive information and security practices. A Specialist is responsible for providing support in emergency situations as well as maintaining all security devices and products in working order. Security Administration Specialists provide technical advice on access control, security awareness training, and security design. The position also involves planning, implementing, and troubleshooting internal security policies, application security and access control systems.

What you will do

  • Balance multiple projects and multiple tasks while meeting agreed upon objectives.
  • Perform maintenance as needed on systems supported by the Security Department.
  • Review periodic reports and notify appropriate individuals of pertinent findings.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments of various hosts and networks using appropriate scanning tools and recommends mitigating controls.
  • Assist in the maintenance of documentation pertaining to security aspects of the organization.
  • Assist in evaluation of hardware and software products and network services for potential fit with company’s security requirements.
  • Lead the design of security policies for equipment, personnel, and branch practices.
  • Assist in the implementation of security policies in networking equipment and of baseline security policies on various host platforms; test security policies when changed and on a regular, scheduled basis to verify that they are functioning as designed.
  • Work effectively with auditors in the evaluation of security policies, procedures, and infrastructure.
  • Monitor access to FirstBank networks to ensure that security policies in networking equipment and host systems have been implemented correctly and are functioning properly.
  • Communicate with management on the status of projects.
  • Lead the response to physical security incidents, and escalate to management as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy.
  • Schedule will be Friday PM to Monday AM: 6pm – 6am

Minimum Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years related experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other technical field preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good technical problem-solving skills
  • Able to balance multiple tasks and priorities
  • Good customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of LAN hardware and software, such as servers, switches, Windows operating systems and network security software; basic understanding of how this hardware and software fits into various LAN topologies
  • Basic understanding of LAN and WAN protocols, including TCP/IP, SNMP, DNS and SMTP
  • Basic knowledge of various security tools including syslog analyzers, intrusion detection software, penetrati
