Senior Manager, Head of Analytics

CastleGate Forwarding, Wayfair’s strategic ocean freight business, operates internationally to bolster Wayfair's e-commerce fulfillment operations. We collaborate daily with teams across the business to develop strategic, data-informed tools that enhance value for both CastleGate Forwarding, supplier partners, and Wayfair’s ecommerce platform. In this role, you will take the helm in guiding the analytics roadmap, serve as a trusted advisor on analytics to leadership, and be at the vanguard of crafting a suite of tools to create value for the business.

About the role:

The CastleGate Forwarding team is set on the path to becoming a top-tier forwarder in the industry. Capitalizing on Wayfair's extensive ecommerce business and supplier network, CastleGate Forwarding is implementing a forward-thinking strategy to activate remarkable year-over-year growth. Central to this opportunity is our proprietary operating system, NaviOS, which has been custom-built to supercharge our expanding freight forwarding business. NaviOS represents the future platform, serving as the comprehensive digital source of truth for real-world tracking. As a key team member, you will lead efforts to manage this platform and extract valuable insights from its data. Furthermore, you'll be challenged to construct new datasets, drawing fresh insights and developing improved methodologies to forecast the trajectory of our business and the industry at large.    

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to devise and execute strategies, leveraging both proprietary and industry-standard tools, to enhance our business understanding and influence outcomes.
• Build an advanced analytics team through coaching experience and new resources: creating the vision, roadmap, and workflow to deliver value quickly for the organization.
• Drive efficient operations within CastleGate Forwarding by harnessing your in-depth knowledge of supply chain, international freight, and the key drivers influencing the industry.
• Promote cost-efficient supply planning by identifying and automating root cause in time for the organization to act
• Collaborate with diverse teams to evaluate the balance between speed and cost, articulating the relationship and implications of these trade-offs
• Craft in-depth analyses that yield actionable insights, which can be disseminated across the wider Wayfair organization

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Math/Statistics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field, Master's degree preferred
• 8+ years of experience in data analysis, employing advanced statistical predictions, scenario analysis, and clustering/segmentation techniques 
• Solid expertise in SQL, Excel, Python, and R.
• Proficiency in web scraping, including extracting data from websites, handling HTML/XML/JSON formats, and using related Python libraries. Adherence to legal and ethical web scraping guidelines is a must.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of building, leading, and developing high-performing teams.
• Experience in managing and executing large projects from inception to completion, including project management, data gathering and modeling, problem-solving, and communication of recommendations.
• Intellectual curiosity and a strong work ethic, with a passion for transforming large amounts of data into actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
