Swim Instructor

Looking for applicants with weekday and/or weekend availability (4PM - 7PM weekdays, 9AM - 1PM weekends)

 

JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Program Responsibilities

• Wear appropriate aquatic attire including identifiable instructor shirt and bathing suit
• Provide friendly, courteous, safe service to all members, clients, and volunteers of the Y
• Instruct assigned classes
• Maintain communication with class participants and parents
• Explain class and pool procedures to program participants
• Evaluate swimming levels
• Attend all staff meetings and trainings
• Maintain updated certifications as required by OCY
• Keep accurate attendance and class records
• Distribute and collect parent evaluations at assigned times with results given to the Aquatic Coordinator
• Actively recruit members for OCY
• Promote the values of the YMCA's Character Development of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility
• Communicate to all program participants and all members all program and membership promotions
• Establish and maintain supervision of pool area and swimmers
• Enforce pool rules to staff and all swimmers

Qualifications

Weekday availability between 4PM - 7PM and weekend availability between 9AM -1PM

• Minimum 16 years of age
• Provide quality swim instruction in-line with YMCA Swim Lessons Curriculum. Willing to obtain proper training certifications
• Maintain accurate records for swim participant progress, ensure communication to caregivers regarding expectations, skill progress, next steps, etc
• Work as part of a team committed to building confidence, friendships and skills among participants. Actively work to be a dependable team member and coach
• Attend staff meetings
