Position Overview
This position is accountable for supervising the construction of specially assigned highway construction projects within a specified geographical area of the district and/or supervising the construction of two or more moderately difficult projects.
Essential Functions
- Supervises projects that are constructed to plans and specifications.
- Ensures complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all work to initiate payment to contracts.
- Trains, motivates, and evaluates subordinates.
- Oversees time consideration on projects under their supervision.
- Manages equipment utilized by the incumbent and their staff.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS six years of engineering experience; OR eight years of engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to supervise, train, and motivate subordinate personnel.
- Strong communication skills.
Conditions of Employment
- Valid Driver’s License
- Frequent travel throughout the district with occasional statewide travel.
- Successful completion of a background screening.
- Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.
