About the role

Description

As the Senior Data Analyst, you will be a subject matter expert on LCCU’s data and lead complex projects to extract value from the data, provide contextual analysis, and produce relevant visualizations to help the Credit Union achieve its business objectives. You will play a critical role in collaborations with business owners throughout the organization and are constantly improving daily operations. You will thoroughly understand the limits and potential of LCCU’s data, utilize modern data analytics tools and methods, and advocate for the use of proper data governance controls and data management practices throughout the organization.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Management

  • Standardize, promote, and enforce the use of good data management and governance practices and mentor data analysts and business owners on the same.
  • Develop and test data models to support Credit Union business initiatives.
  • Liaise with the Data Integrations team to communicate the needs of business owners in technical terms, update data definitions and calculations, and source data.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of data sourced from the data warehouse, business applications, and external sources.
  • Identify potential improvements to data collection, data management, and reporting to management for implementation.
  • Examine peers' work for accuracy, relevance, compliance with policies and procedures, and adherence to data governance standards.
  • Develop and oversee the use of proper change management procedures.


Business Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and execute department objectives aligned with the data strategy.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand their data needs, develop customized analytics solutions, and deliver actionable recommendations.
  • Translate business owner requirements into technical specifications used to develop relevant reports and visualizations that are easily digestible to their target audience.
  • Standardize data definitions, analytic methods, and deliverable development to facilitate consistent use and understanding of data across all deliverables and business units.
  • Thoroughly examine the underlying reasons behind any information requests.
  • Direct the efficient use of analytics resources by identifying potential opportunities to join multiple business questions with “single source of truth” reporting solutions.
  • Provide end-user support and training on the use of analytics and reporting tools.

Reporting & Visualizations

  • Lead the development and maintenance of data and predictive analytics models, algorithms, and methodologies to extract valuable insights from data.
  • Use visualization and analytic tools to develop, detect, and promote an understanding of data patterns, trends, and correlations to further business insights.
  • Develop accurate, timely, and insightful reports and presentations that support data-driven strategic decision-making.
  • Perform investigations to identify and address data integrity concerns, including identifying trends, variances, or gaps between source data and reporting deliverables.
  • Verify each deliverable is technically sound and meets the business owner’s requirements.
  • Examine and standardize technical documentation of the department’s outputs and processes that includes the requirements, definitions, design, and user manuals.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best data management, analytics, and business intelligence practices.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree required, with a focus on computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field is preferred. A master’s degree may be preferred for more senior positions or roles requiring deeper analytical skills.
  • 6-7 years of experience in data management, including gathering, validating, and analyzing data from data warehouses, business applications, and external database sources.
  • 6-7 years of experience in managing and supporting data reporting systems or information technology, preferably in a Credit Union.
  • Experience with programming languages like SQL, Python, or R with a level of proficiency equivalent to work experience.
  • Experience using [TP1] visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar, to develop insightful visualizations that highlight data patterns, trends, and correlations.
  • Experience developing data models to support business initiatives.
  • Experience testing and reviewing data products to ensure that requirements are met and that they are developed in line with development standards and best practices.
