Banner Del Webb Medical Center in Sun City West is currently seeking a Certified Patient Care Assistant to join our Medical Surgery Unit. This department supports Acute Care. This will include all patients excluding ICU. Med/Surg and PCU are now combined as “acute care.” After orientation, YOU will be floating through service line as needed. You will work in both our 15-bed private room unit as well as our 29-bed semi-private room unit utilizing your knowledge, judgment, and assistant nursing skills to assess data, plan and provide high quality, safe and efficient care for our patients.  The patients cared for on these units have a variety of medical conditions that allow PCA’S to continually grown in their abilities.  Whether a patient who is post-surgical or one who is battling a COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, pancreatitis, renal failure or hypoxia; you will have the opportunity to drive their plan of care and maximize your growing assistant nursing practice.

  • Full-Time Night Shift Available (3, 12s)
  • Night Shift Hours can be from 7:00pm-7:30am
  • You can utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage.There are no set days you can be scheduled each week
  • Varied Shifts = could be working days nights, weekends
  • Weekend Rotations are required in this role.  Every other weekend which is Friday and Saturday.
  • Rotating Holidays Required - 1 major and 1 minor
  • Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-Night Shift differential when applicable

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.

2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.

3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.

4. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheters removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring.
