As a Mainframe Manager within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL or Dallas, TX, Phoenix, AZ. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position.
We are seeking a seasoned Mainframe Manager to lead our core infrastructure systems, ensuring the reliability, security, and advancement of our mainframe environment. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical proficiency in IBM System Z platforms, mainframe technologies, and IT governance. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, a passion for operational excellence, and hands-on experience in mainframe operations and enterprise-level IT systems.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage mainframe architecture, programming, operations, and testing teams.
· Oversee the administration and optimization of IBM z/OS environments including LPAR configurations.
· Drive mainframe modernization and legacy system integration initiatives.
· Manage RACF (Resource Access Control Facility) administration and security governance.
· Establish and enforce IT policies, standards, and procedures across the mainframe ecosystem.
· Collaborate with enterprise risk management teams on risk assessments, compliance, and regulatory audits.
· Lead IT infrastructure support efforts, ensuring high availability and system resilience.
· Evaluate and implement productivity software and testing solutions for continuous improvement.
· Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure service delivery alignment.
· Provide executive-level reporting on operational productivity, project status, and resource planning.
· Foster a culture of analytical thinking, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
Required Qualifications:
· Progressive experience in mainframe technology roles.
· 5+ years of people management or technical leadership experience.
· Expert knowledge of IBM System Z, z/OS, LPARs, and RACF.
· Proficient in CA Endevor SCM, SAS Language, and Statistical Analysis Software (SAS).
· Strong understanding of IT Consolidation, Infrastructure Support, and Risk Management.
· Proven success in mainframe legacy system support, modernization, and testing strategies.
· Demonstrated ability in vendor contract negotiation and cross-functional collaboration.
· Solid grasp of Security Governance, Software Standards, and Productivity Improvements.

Job Description
- Delivers products/services in alignment with business needs and objectives. Responsible for multiple teams or departments within the Enterprise Infrastructure function.
- Contributes to infrastructure planning, development strategies/initiatives and product lifecycle/service orientation; determines current and future enterprise infrastructure needs. Oversees portfolio/program/project management responsibilities. Directs financial management and risk management capabilities.
- Contributes to stable and secure environment, incident management, product health/patching, and the asset management lifecycle. May communicate with vendors, suppliers and executive management to ensure availability of infrastructure technologies and support.
