The Boeing CompanyBoeing Global Services is currently seeking a highly motivated Lead Software Architect Engineer to become part of the Training Systems - Battlespace Simulation Management team in Hazelwood, MO.

Develop subsystems for Boeing Flight Trainers such as the Instructor/Operator Station, Brief/Debrief Station, Synthetic Environments, and core building block technologies used for all our flight trainers (graphics, video, networking, mission planning, exercise management & control).
BSM is responsible for the design, development, manufacture, and maintenance of training devices for a wide variety of commercial and military aircraft - everything from F-15 fighter jets to Apache attack helicopters, and even NASA's Starliner spacecraft. Software engineers on our team are responsible for all phases of the software lifecycle, including architecture, design, implementation and test. They are also directly involved in planning their own work, as part of the agile methodology, with a focus on technical excellence.
The BSM team is a large software development team comprised of several smaller agile teams, some with specialized skills. Our backlog includes everything from new feature development using cutting-edge technology to maintenance of legacy software baselines. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working in an often fast-paced environment. As an experienced member of the team, you will be supporting the entire product development life cycle within BSM.
Job Responsibilities:
• Serve as the focal point for the team's products to all Boeing users & programs.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers to define system-level software features.
• Provide technical leadership in day-to-day design and implementation decisions.
• Decompose system-level features into executable backlog items with the team.
• Write actionable user stories and maintain a groomed backlog for business stakeholder priorities, incorporating architectural changes recommended by engineering.
• Work with developers and testers to create appropriate and executable acceptance criteria.
• Enhance team productivity through a test-first mentality and acceptance test-driven development focus.
• Ensure the development team’s products effectively address program priorities while maintaining technical integrity and cost and schedule targets.
• Attend product management meetings, planning, and backlog/vision refinement sessions.
• Participate in team and system demonstrations.
• Coordinate feature dependencies across teams.
• Actively participate in retrospectives and other improvement workshops.
• Collaborate with teams to build and manage new features and capabilities while delivering the desired business impact.
• Own the technical roadmap and non-functional requirements for the product.
• Advocate for process improvements through an understanding of the engineering lifecycle and previous experience.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster innovation within the team.
• Contributes to the development and enhancement of the toolset and Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI) processes.

• Execution and On-Time Delivery:
o Percentage of projects delivered on or before the scheduled deadline.
o Timeliness in completing user stories and backlog items.
• Quality Assurance:
o Number of defects reported post-release versus pre-release.
o Adherence to coding standards and best practices, as measured by code reviews.
• Safety Compliance:
o Compliance with safety protocols and standards in software development and simulation processes.
