Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. The Director & Actuary II is responsible for directing actuarial research required to identify and solve actuarial problems for a region.

How you will make an impact:

• Manages actuarial model development and maintenance.

• Manages actuarial data delivery and support. Conducts experience analysis.

• Lead evolution of network analysis and total-cost-of-care measurement and modeling initiatives in partnership with senior actuarial leaders externally.

• Serve as actuarial subject matter expert in high-profile client and prospect engagements

• Monitors developments in actuarial techniques, research laws and regulations applicable to actuarial science and insurance operations.

• Analyzes competitive developments in the marketplace and manages studies that underlie actuarial assumptions.

• Collaborate with internal partners in developing consulting collateral, POV, whitepapers, training, and content.

• Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.

• Travel up to 20% may be required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Requires a BA/BS and a minimum of 8 years of related professional/managerial experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

• Requires ASA/MAAA and FSA.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experience:

• Proven track record and recent industry and vendor knowledge in evaluating traditional health plans, emerging health plans, Value Based Care arrangements, surgical networks, evaluation of performance guarantees and shared-savings arrangements and related concepts preferred.

• Excellent writing and presentation skills, and ability to convey technical analyses and information in a clear manner to non-technical business audiences, including C-suite, Senior HR and Finance leadership preferred.

• Experience with consulting and evaluating impact of regulatory changes, including hospital and provider price transparency, No Surprises Act, Affordable Care Act, Medicare Reference Pricing, CMS value-based payments and other health reform and industry health innovation initiatives preferred.

• Experience serving large/complex Fortune 500 organizations, as well as developing scaled solutions for smaller self-insured groups preferred.

• Ability to review technical work product and mentor junior technical staff including analysts, data scientists, statisticians and actuaries preferred.

• Experience working with large health claims datasets or gathering datasets. Experience with evaluation of provider quality and quality data. Experience with HIPAA and de-identification standard methodologies preferred.

• Well-developed skills in project management/planning and partner management preferred.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $166,320 to $272,160.

Locations: District of Columbia (Washington, DC), Illinois, New York.
