Veterinary Assistant

VCA Lakota Hills Animal Hospital is expanding their patient care team and seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

 

Compensation: The pay range is $15.00 to $18.00, depending on experience and skill set.

Schedule: Full-time, 4 x 10 hour shifts with rotating Saturdays.

Position Overview

Our Veterinary Assistant's support our veterinarians and technicians in delivering top-notch medical care, ensuring the well-being of our patients, and maintaining a clean and organized facility. Depending on experience, training, and skillset, our Veterinary Assistants are utilized to their full capabilities within State of Ohio guidelines.

Qualifications: 

• 2+ years experience as a veterinary assistant

• Comfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments 

• High school diploma or equivalent required 

Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.

• Safely restrain animals for treatments and diagnostics.

• Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision.

• Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces).

• Perform basic diagnostic tests, including radiographs and blood tests.

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.

• Educate clients on general animal care, nutrition, and post-treatment instructions.

• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, surgical areas, and kennels.

• Manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed.

• Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and answering phones.
