Job Description Summary

The Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law (CERL) is a non-partisan interdisciplinary institute at the University of Pennsylvania dedicated to preserving and promoting ethics and the rule of law in national security, warfare, and democratic governance. CERL draws from the study of law, philosophy, and ethics to answer the difficult questions that arise in domestic and transnational crises and conflicts.

This position will support the research, writing, and publicity activities of the center as well as support the day-to-day activities and assist with the management of all program activities.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Faculty Director, assists in drafting and editing reports, blog posts, and other written material issued by the center.

  • Assists in writing and editing copy for web posts, promotional materials, and other digital campaigns in coordination with the Director of Engagement

  • Assists in coordination of activities relating to public events and closed-door meetings, including but not limited to sending invitations, managing guest lists, arranging venues and catering, and providing on-site coordination from setup to breakdown

  • Assists with website maintenance and other communications platforms, including Mailchimp and social media pages

  • Composes and edits routine correspondence

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Successful candidates will:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Possess strong written communication skills with prior editing and writing experie
