We’re searching for a Software Engineer to join our Developer Experience team, focused on building the tools and systems used by Aurora software engineers.

In this role, you will:

• Build and enhance the developer platform required to deliver on Aurora’s product ambitions, including the Aurora Driver
• Focus on solving the problems of efficiently developing and delivering a complex software system at scale
• Help develop, run, and grow the tools / services used to build and test autonomous vehicle systems
• Work with engineers from across the organization to understand developer pain points
• Design, implement, and maintain command line tools and web services that enhance the GitHub platform
• Mentor junior team members and maintain engineering excellence

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent working experience)
• 3+ years of experience working on large software development projects spanning multiple teams
• Highly proficient in Python or Golang programming
• Ability to work with others on design and implementation and both provide and receive constructive feedback
• Ability to estimate and deliver their work on schedule
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology
• Good communication skills and the ability to work efficiently with cross functional and geographically dispersed teams
• Comfortable with Git and GitHub
• Comfortable with Linux/other unix environments

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with developer tools and software development & delivery workflows
• Experience with GitHub API’s, GitHub administration, code review platforms and/or other version control systems.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms (Buildkite, Jenkins, Circle CI)
• Experience with Cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
• Understanding of the challenges, trade offs, and approaches involved in providing a world class developer experience in a monorepo development environment
• Passionate about understanding the needs of our engineering teams and shipping tools/features that increase code velocity and improve the overall developer experience
• Contributions to open source project(s)
• Past experience with release engineering, build systems, devops, and related areas is a huge plus

The base salary range for this position is $136,000 - $234,000 per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
