Position Summary

The Senior Manager – Investment Management provides oversight for the Investment portfolios of CPS Energy, inclusive of the Direct Investments, Nuclear Decommissioning Trusts (NDTs), and Benefits Trust portfolios. This includes management for a number of treasury, banking and investment functions for CPS Energy. Ensures all treasury and banking functions of the company are effectively maintained. Plans, schedules, coordinates and reviews all Cash & Liquidity Management (CLM) directives. Works with Employee Benefits staff, Controller staff and actuaries to ensure appropriate reporting / disclosure of benefit plan activity in CPS Energy’s financial statements. May also be named an Observer or Member of the Administrative Committee. Provides support to the Administrative Committee and Employee Benefits Oversight Committee as needed.  #IN_AD

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the short- and long-term investment activities for CPS Energy, REAP and CPS Energy’s two nuclear decommissioning trusts, ensuring consistency with regulatory requirements and CPS Energy financial policies.
  • Provides oversight for the Accounting and administration of CPS Energy’s four Employee Benefit Trusts (Pension, Health, Life, and Disability) which includes coordination of the Employee Benefits Oversight Committee.
  • Ensures financial statements and required disclosure notes are prepared for audit reports in compliance with all related GASB statements / guidelines related to Benefits Trust entities.
  • Provides consultation and oversight to staff to invest in approved securities and ensures compliance with CPS Energy’s Investment Policy.
  • Maintains relationships with contacts at depository, custodian and any other bank where CPS Energy has deposits.  Works with these contacts as needed to ensure proper service of CPS Energy’s bank accounts.
  • Oversees the review and revisions to all of CPS Energy’s financial policies at least annually to include the Financial Authorizations and Approvals Policy, the Collateral Policy, the CPS Energy Investment Policy; NDT Investment Policy, and coordinates Board approval and distribution of policies.
  • Maintains oversight of the planning and communication of EBOC meeting agendas & presentation materials, including minutes.  Ensures good communication between Administrative Committee and EBOC. Provides additional support as appropriate.
  • Coordinates the research related to all service providers, investment managers, and consultants within the Benefits Trust area.
  • Plans, schedules, attends and / or leads meetings on all aspects related to CLM or Benefits Trusts areas.
  • Meets with staff to provide general guidance, direction and delegation on workflow and to plan and / or discuss current projects and deliverables and reviews completion of assignments.
  • Monitors the need for RFPs for professional services.  Evaluates the proposals and makes a recommendation on selection to the appropriate Committee.
  • Participates in the development and administration of the Financial Services department’s budget.
  • Identifies, implements, tracks, and utilizes business plan metrics to achieve business objectives, drive continuous improvement, and complete workforce planning.
  • Implements and maintains development plans (to include mentoring, coaching and developmental assignments) for direct and indirect reports to ensure knowledge capture, business continuity and effective succession planning.
  • Promotes and establishes a safe work environment.
  • Escalates issues as appropriate to Financial Services Executive Management.
