JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director for University Assessment System and Support for Faculty Training is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and sustaining the university's comprehensive assessment system that connects assessment to instruction and facilitates the use of assessment results to target instruction and intervention. Additionally, the position is responsible for assisting with the operations and functions related to faculty training. This requires the director to be responsible for compiling, and documenting data from artifacts aligned with student learning outcomes and assist in carrying out responsibilities of the Academy.

The coordinator collects, aggregates, and analyzes data to prepare reports. The director will work collaboratively with chairs and faculty to assist in assessment processes for departments. The director oversees the maintenance of the university's Assessment System to prepare for national and state accreditation. The director is responsible to work with the Assistant to the Provost for Effective Teaching and Innovation, the Assistant to the Provost for Academic Excellence and Institutional Effectiveness, and the Provost to develop and maintain the university assessment system, including the development of new systems as needed. The position supports the faculty development activities sponsored by the Academy. The director will use knowledge of quantitative research methodology for multiple projects and will establish effective research procedures and standards that can help improve and enhance results and productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

University Assessment System

  • The Director assists with implementation of a comprehensive assessment system that includes the following elements:
    • Framework and yearly calendar to efficiently guide assessment development
    • Data and assessment cycle that comprises gathering, analyzing, planning, grading, and reporting
    • Professional development for staff and administrators
    • Use of technology to efficiently utilize assessment analysis, collection, development, and implementation
  • Coordinates with the Assistant to the Provost for Academic Excellence and Institutional Effectiveness for requirements related to assessment and faculty training
  • Commitment to ongoing knowledge of best practices and accreditation requirements for assessment. Collect, aggregate, and analyze data to prepare department reports.
  • Maintains and updates the university assessment system as needed
  • Monitors, maintains, and assists departments with improving rubrics as needed
  • Assists in the creation of the assessment handbook
  • Assists in the coordination of assessment day activities
  • Communicates assessment progress, needs, and changes to all stakeholders as needed
  • Coordinates the collection of departmental assessment meeting reports
  • Assists with a continuous improvement plan that is sustained and evidence-based, and evaluates the effectiveness of the university outcomes
  • Assists in coordinating meetings and liaise with chairs and faculty in understanding, interpreting, and evidencing how programs meet program and university outcomes
  • Prepares assessment reports including statistical reports and presentations on findings inclusive of the use of tabular, graphical, and relevant descriptive and inferential statistical content, to aid department decision making, and program changes, development, and implementation.
  • Oversee the current process of gathering needed documents from the current university assessment system
  • Work with departments to ensure all rubrics are in the HLC2022As folder
  • Work with departments to ensure all notes and concerns are addressed
  • Work with departments to identify online courses that need assessment rubrics and to identify rubrics needed for selected online courses
  • Work with departments to ensure online rubrics selected are aligned with online assignments and to adjust rubrics that are not aligned
  • Help the departments complete the 2016-2020 assessment cycle needed for HLC
  • assists departments that are not externally accredited to set up a program review process
  • Work with departments to set up a program review cycle
  • Work with a task force to design the new University Assessment System
