The emergency department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with board certified physicians and advanced level practitioners who are well-trained to treat emergency needs. MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is certified as a Level IV Trauma Center by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

As a Radiology Student at MercyOne Elkader, you will:

• Perform a wide variety of routine duties including clerical, technical and patient related functions
• Be responsible for assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care services such as: exam review, preparation for the visit, patient education, assistance with exams and procedures, and patient transporting
• Train to use a wide variety of radiographic equipment, computers, and software
• Be assigned to work in a variety of imaging sections, assist multiple radiology modalities and /or clinical services per operational needs
• Be able to resolve conflict and endure the pressures associated with a constantly changing work environment
• Assist with exams on adults, geriatric patients, adolescents, and pediatric age groups and performs patient assessment within the scope of practice

• Varied hours

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be enrolled as a 2nd year student in an accredited Radiologic Technology program with current participation in radiology classes and clinical rotations or be board eligible
• Must be ARRT certified within 1 year of completion of radiologic technology program
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter
• Basic Life Support (BLS) will be required within 3 months of hire and every 2 years thereafter
