Accountability Statements:
- Ensure a culture of commitment to safety and operational excellence within the Global Process Technology team, pilot plants, and labs.
- Support the global manufacturing plants to improve process safety, OEE, supply security, and troubleshoot challenging operational and quality problems.
- Ensure an operationally excellent process for managing the project portfolio, individual projects, stage gate and decision making, resource planning, and risk mitigation and management.
- Scale-up new products to company operated and 3rd party operated manufacturing plants.
- Innovate and improve process technology capabilities within your span.
- Build strong relationships and effective work processes across commercial, technical, operational, and support functions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead global Process Technology teams
- Direct and lead a group of process technology team leaders who have accountability for multiple chemistry platforms. Maximize their performance, and actively support their career development.
- Set the example for how an operationally centric and highly engaged leader behaves.
- Effectively manage the team’s resources: staffing, facilities, finances, and overall capability.
- Drive standardization and effectiveness of operational, technology development and transfer, and project management processes.
- Coordinate people and processes to make good decisions and deliver targeted operational and business results.
- Lead Pilot plant and lab Operations
- Ensure all process risks and technician health and safety risks are mitigated during lab and pilot plant work.
- Coach engagement between front line leaders and technicians.
- Operate effective scheduling, planning, and work execution processes.
- Partner cross functionally to produce mid to long term strategic plans for technology and organizational capability needs.
- Manufacturing plant support
- Lower our process safety risk by documenting and standardizing how we use process safety information, process design standards, process operating standards, and manage change for the technologies in your span.
- Lead and support initiatives to improve OEE, capacity, and reduce variability in manufacturing operations.
- Troubleshoot and solve operational, quality, and process safety problems in manufacturing plants.
- Partner with the plant teams and third-party manufacturing companies to safely execute manufacturing trials and technology transfer.
- Deliver Results
- Ensure excellent communication and relationships with commercial, technical, operational, HSES, compliance, and finance leaders and teams.
- Provide regular reports and communications regarding pilot plant and lab safety and operating performance, project portfolio health and individual project status, and improvements delivered in manufacturing.
- Ensure knowledge retention, transfer, and application of first principles
- Ensure high competency and demonstrated proficiency in applying first principles of chemistry and engineering, formal and organized problem solving, application of statistics and design of experiments, project management and execution, and technical documentation and report writing.
- Ensure process technology and project information is standardized, organized, documented, retained, and effectively used for onboarding new manufacturing and technology team members and facilitates continuous improvement and standardization of how we operate key technologies in manufacturing plants.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Physical Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, or advanced degree in Chemistry paired with significant chemical manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in process development or manufacturing
- Demonstrated success delivering results in a matrix
