Job Description:

Pearson Online Learning Services is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting functions of the organization. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Controller and be responsible for managing the month-end close process, preparing financial statements, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management practices, as well as experience in a senior accounting role.

 

Responsibilities:

• Manage the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and reviewing financial statements.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, including analyzing financial data, developing financial models, and preparing variance analyses.
• Assist with external audits, including preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Research and analyze technical accounting issues and make recommendations for appropriate accounting treatment.
• Provide support to other members of the accounting and finance team as needed.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with financial reporting, month-end close, and budgeting and forecasting.
• Knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and analyze complex accounting issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
• High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, etc.) is preferred.
