As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll lead some of Southern California’s most meaningful water resource and habitat restoration projects, guide multidisciplinary teams, and help grow our respected Bio & CG division. You’ll work with clients, agencies, and internal teams who value technical excellence, creativity, and trust.
A Day in the Life
As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll spend your days:
- Strategizing and managing biological resources projects of all sizes
- Coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, and HELIX technical staff
- Leading budgets, schedules, deliverables, and QA/QC
- Developing CEQA/NEPA biological technical reports, survey reports, restoration plans, and conservation plan consistency documents
- Preparing and processing permits (404/401, Porter-Cologne, 1602, ESA Section 7, CESA, and more)
- Mentoring rising staff and shaping the growth of the Bio & CG practice

Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Project Manager, you will:
- Lead water resource and habitat restoration projects across multiple jurisdictions
- Oversee daily project management, including team leadership, subcontractor coordination, invoicing, and contracting
- Drive proposals, interviews, and business development
- Represent HELIX in client and agency meetings with professionalism and confidence

Salary will be based on qualifications and/or experience, with a robust benefits package. Expected starting pay range of $115,000 to $150,000.

RequirementsMinimum QualificationsWe’re looking for a Senior Project Manager with:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in environmental science, biology, ecology, or related field
- 10+ years in environmental/biological resources work
- 5+ years managing biological resources projects (water or habitat focus)
- Demonstrated CEQA/NEPA technical report authorship
- Demonstrated experience managing large scale projects and project teams
- Strong client and agency relationships + strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in biology or related field
- Experience processing federal/state permits for wetlands and endangered species
- Water agency or public works experience
- Proven business development experience
