Job Title: Research Engineer II

Job Duties: The Raymond Corporation seeks a Research Engineer II in Greene, NY to conduct in-depth research in robotics, focusing on localization and perception technologies, for the advancement of driver-assist systems in forklifts. Evaluate the technical and business viability of these technologies, integrating findings into the development of material handling solutions. Stay current on new technology releases in adjacent industries such as automotive, robotics and automation. Design and develop prototypes, and conduct tests to assess performance in real-world material handling applications. Perform on-vehicle testing and data collection as necessary. Coordinate with stakeholders to understand the industry need and how commercially available options fill those needs. Work closely with the development team, technology partners, and research institutions to align project objectives and for seamless integration of new technologies. Host design reviews to solicit feedback on proposed solutions and iterate incorporate feedback. Utilize Python, C++, Linux, ROS, and Robotics simulation tools.

Telecommuting available up to two days per week. May work at our Syracuse, NY location 2-6 days per month. Annual salary: $75,411 to $117,651.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field plus 6 months of robotics engineering experience in: (1) Python and C++, (2) Linux, ROS and Gazebo robotics simulation software, (3) Hardware-software integration, (4) Automating tasks using Python, (5) Localization, navigation, obstacle detection, perception, machine learning, and sensor fusion; and (6) Data analysis.
