Job Title: Logistics Manager – Milk/Cream/Condensed Scheduler
Immediate Supervisor: Vice President of Procurement & Milk Marketing
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: The Field Information & Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing the supply of raw dairy materials. Duties also include ensuring that all lab results are managed in a manner that ensures producer/members are paid accurately and timely for their product. Additionally, the Field Information & Logistics Manager will assist with the management of logistics associated with proper delivery of raw materials to appropriate locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate and coordinate with Federal Market Order Specialist & Division Controller Procurement to keep plants and members qualified to maximize returns to members.
- Accountable for purchasing proper quantity and quality of raw dairy materials for internal and external customers. This includes milk and cream/condensed.
- Ensure that member/producers component testing is computed accurately and timely.
- Comply with all State regulations both timely and accurately.
- Communicate and cooperate with contract milk haulers, plant managers and field staff.
- Develop and maintain customer relations by scheduling visits with raw dairy materials customers.
- Assist with the monitoring and collection of milk customer account receivables.
- Communicate all necessary information to appropriate field staff.
- Works closely with Information Technology department to maintain and further develop information resources to guarantee accuracy within milk procurement software system.
- Continually monitor work areas for safety concerns and report all injuries to proper personnel.
- Must be available for weekend and after hour coverage on a rotational basis.
- Perform all other assignments as required.
Qualification/Requirements:
- Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science or Business and/or Information Technology
- Five years experience in lab testing/dairy industry and milk procurement/milk sales with some accounting and informational technology experience preferred.
- Must be able to verbally communicate, understand and write in the English language
- Must have or be willing to develop working knowledge of Federal Market Orders
- Prefer minimally two years supervisory experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Will need to be available for flexible working hours
- Must be available to attend scheduled Field meetings
- Should be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn milk procurement software systems.
- Some travel – must maintain a valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee will be required to operate a computer and keyboard; have visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech; manual dexterity to operate a telephone; lift horizontally and vertically, climb, bend and stoop.
