The Surgical Services Attendant performs a variety of service and direct patient care activities related to the medical care of patients who are undergoing surgery, which support the nursing staff in providing quality healthcare to each patient. Direct patient care activities are related to: the transportation and transfer of patients, equipment, supplies and specimens to and from designated areas; positioning of patients based on patient surgical needs, preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care; the cleanliness and upkeep of all transportation equipment; maintainenance of adequate inventory of supplies pertinent to the departmental operation.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

· Prepare all surgical suites for surgical procedures using established procedure guidelines for room equipment, supplies and furniture.

· Maintain cleanliness of equipment and supplies to preserve and prepare all OR suites for future use, following safety rules.

· Ensure that all patients are ready for surgery prior to transport of patients from inpatient and emergency room units to ensure patient safety.
