The Group Research Team (RG) is searching for a skilled and experienced Research Specialist to join our organization. This challenging opportunity requires expertise in process research, product development, and scale-up to support our esteemed BASF business partners throughout North America. 

As a Research Specialist Technician for our Process Catalysis and Adsorbents Scale-up group in Beachwood, Ohio you will be responsible for providing catalyst and adsorbents evaluation support to a wide variety of R&D projects and quality assurance efforts.  You are expected to be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining clear, detailed notes and records.

During your 8-hour shift as a Research Specialist Technician, you will

 

• Operate a variety of laboratory equipment independently, including autoclaves, fixed-bed reactor systems, and temperature swing and pressure swing adsorption units (TSA/PSAs).
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive run sheets, collect data, and report results, demonstrating a fundamental understanding of chemistry (stoichiometry) and mathematics (algebra).
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain laboratory equipment effectively.
• Safely handle hazardous chemicals, including feed make-up, catalyst and adsorbent loading/unloading, sample collection, and waste disposal.
• Operate gas chromatographs (GCs) and other analytical instruments in the laboratory.
• Assist in the installation of tubing, fittings, valves, regulators, and other components for unit modification, construction, and repair.
   

If you...

 

• Have a high school diploma with at least 8 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory environment; or an Associate's degree in chemistry, engineering, or a related science field with a minimum of 5 years of experience; or a BS in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related science with no experience.
• Have experience with pilot-scale equipment related to chemical processes and analytical instrumentation.
• Possess knowledge of safe handling practices for chemicals and equipment, including detailed record-keeping.
• Are proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel).
• Are capable of safely lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Have experience working with catalysts or adsorbents.
