Job Duties

Job Summary – The Accounting Deputy Clerk (Grade 9) is assigned fiscal responsibilities in a high-volume office serving two jurisdictions with frequent, critical deadlines. This position must ensure court’s instructions are executed correctly and legal and financial documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies. This position is responsible for automated accounting and financial management activities to include proper recording of all financial transactions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities – Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Collects or disburses fines, costs, bonds, restitution, etc. and enters daily deposits in system. Reconciles monthly bank statements, prepares and assists clerk in preparing financial and budget reports as needed. Additional responsibilities include answering phones, accessing fines and costs, receipting payments as needed, manage and maintain community service, maintain Tax Setoff program and process copy requests. Assumes additional responsibilities as required by management.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required plus additional course work in such areas as accounting, bookkeeping, and data processing is recommended. Knowledge of court/criminal justice system is a plus. Applicants will have considerable court, business, or office related experience. Applicants should be highly organized and possess significant knowledge, skills, and abilities in personnel management, time management, and performance management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and advanced knowledge of office automation systems and computer software required.

Additional Considerations

Proficiency in Word and Excel is preferred.
