Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist, Biology

The successful candidate will be part of the biology team focusing on the advancement of novel therapeutic candidates that are designed to target critical signaling pathways in immunology and inflammation.  The ideal candidate will (design and) perform hands-on experiments in vitro and ex vivo to assess potency and examine mechanisms of action of our emerging pipeline assets.  This is an On-Site position.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute various in vitro and ex vivo cell-based model systems/assays to support characterization of biologics, enable lead selection, and elucidate mechanisms of action of multiple immunology therapeutics.
• Perform high throughput screening assays for drug candidate selection with/without automation.
• Support ex vivo analysis to examine drug potency and mechanisms of action.
• Generate stable cell lines using lentiviral or other transfection methods, including molecular cloning strategy (hands-on molecular cloning work is not required), lentiviral packaging, single colony selection, transfection optimization, and expression level check.
• Present rationale, design, and results of experiments to the project teams.
• Work collaboratively on multiple projects concurrently and coordinate activities across functions.
• Maintain electronic lab notebook documentation and support daily lab operations including equipment maintenance and sample management.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Immunology/Oncology/cell biology or other relevant discipline.
• At least 3 years of hands-on in vitro experience in immunology and/or cell biology is required.
• Strong cell-based assay development expertise is required.
• Hands-on experience with various in vitro laboratory techniques is required, including but not limited to ELISA, flow cytometry, AlphaScreen, TRF/HTRF, FRET, reporter assays, cytotoxicity assay, etc.
• Experience in stable cell line generation using lentiviral or other transfection system is required. 
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment to meet project timelines and goals is required.
• Excellent troubleshooting and data analysis skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous work experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry setting.
• Prior experience with GPCR signaling assays (calcium flux, cAMP quantification, beta arrestin recruitment, etc.) is a plus.
• Prior experience of cell-engineering using CRISPR-Cas9 and other gene editing techniques is a plus.
• Great written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex data at project team meetings.
