Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse (RN), Temporary (Until April 2026), Monday-Friday (6:30a-3p), Westchester, NY

FlexStaff is seeking an experienced Registered Nurses with experience in pre-op and PACU to work for one of our clients, a multispecialty surgery center, located in Westchester, NY.
This is a temporary assignment until mid-April 2026.
Schedule: Monday- Friday, 6:30a-3p.
In this role you would be responsible for an age specific plan of care for a designated group of patients before, during, and after surgery, using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
An ideal candidate would be a graduate of accredited school of nursing, and currently registered in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse.
BCLS, ACLS and PALS required.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Working with patients prior to surgery to complete paperwork, and help answer questions or calm fears about surgery
• Monitoring a patient’s condition during and after surgery
• Selecting and passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon during operation (sometimes referred to as a scrub nurse)
• Managing the overall nursing care in the operating room to help maintain a safe and comfortable environment (sometimes referred to as a circulating nurse)
• Educating patients on best practices for recovery, including pain management and keeping wounds clean
• Cleaning surgical equipment and operating rooms to maintain a sterile environment
• Assess the patient’s physiologic health status
• Minimize all motion and traffic to avoid creating unnecessary noise.
• Stay with the patient during induction of anesthesia in order to assist the Anesthesiologist as necessary and provide emotional support to the patient.
• After induction and when the Anesthesiologists indicates to do so, position the patient properly for the scheduled procedure. (Positioning of Patients Policy # 300-075)
• Prepare the operative site (Skin Preparation Policy #300-035).
• Assist in bringing back table up to the sterile field and connect all necessary equipment.
• Provide additional supplies to the surgical team during the procedure.
• Observe that aseptic technique is maintained and intervene when breaks in technique occur.
• Receive specimens and place in appropriate containers with the appropriate solutions and label with a patient label that provides the name of the patient, the surgeon, and the type and origin of the specimen.
• During closure but prior to incision closure, perform final instrument, sharp and soft count (Surgical Count Policy #300-055), if indicated.
• Complete all intra-operative documentation.
• Assist moving patient to PACU bed or chair as determined by Anesthesiologist.
• Give report to the PACU RN.
