About the role

The Director HR Business Partner, Information Technology serves as the strategic HR business partner to the Chief Information Officer and Information Technology leadership team. This role is responsible for developing and executing people strategies that support business growth, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, leadership development, and technology transformation across a global workforce. The Director partners closely with leaders in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and India to ensure talent strategies, organizational capabilities, and team member experiences align with business objectives and local market needs. As a trusted advisor to technology leaders, this position drives workforce initiatives that strengthen leadership capability, enhance organizational performance, and support O'Reilly Auto Parts' continued international growth.

Essential Job Functions

  • Serve as the primary HR business partner to the CIO and Information Technology leadership team, providing strategic guidance on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, and talent strategy.
  • Develop and execute human resources strategies that support technology priorities, business growth, digital transformation initiatives, and long-term organizational objectives.
  • Partner with technology leaders across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and India to deliver people solutions that balance enterprise consistency with local business and market requirements.
  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management initiatives to ensure the organization has the capabilities necessary to support current and future business needs.
  • Advise leaders on organizational design, team structures, role alignment, and change management strategies that improve effectiveness, scalability, and business performance.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to develop strategies that attract, retain, and develop highly skilled technology talent in competitive global markets.
  • Leverage workforce analytics and organizational insights to identify trends, assess organizational health, and drive data-informed talent decisions.
  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence, including Compensation, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, and HR Technology, to deliver integrated solutions that support business objectives and team member growth.
  • Provide guidance on team member relations matters, policy interpretation, and employment practices while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations across supported regions.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor HR team members while building strong partnerships across Human Resources and Information Technology to advance O'Reilly's culture, values, and strategic priorities.
     

Required Skills, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant Human Resources Business Partner or HR leadership experience.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership teams and influencing strategic business decisions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in workforce planning, organizational design, talent management, succession planning, and change management.
  • Experience supporting technology, digital, software engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, or related business functions.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align talent strategies with operational and organizational priorities.
  • Experience leading initiatives across multiple geographic regions, business units, or complex organizations.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, consulting, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to analyze workforce data and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.

  • Experience supporting global teams and international workforce expansion initiatives.
  • Experience working with teams or partners in Canada, Mexico, India, or other international markets.
  • Experience supporting large-scale technology transformations, organizational change efforts, or digital modernization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of employment practices and workforce trends across multiple countries.
  • Experience with Workday, people analytics, HR technology platforms, and workforce planning tools.
