Our Technical Accounting Manager will be responsible for assisting with complex accounting matters, such as equity-based compensation, valuation and accounting for business combinations, and research and documentation of other complex accounting topics. This position will report to the Director of Financial Reporting, Corporate and Technical Accounting and will interact closely with various departments across Zayo, including Accounting, Investor Relations, Finance and Tax. The position will also assist the financial reporting team in the timely filing of all quarterly and annual financial statements, including the audit process.
Responsibilities
Research, analyze and document Zayo’s position in complex accounting matters, including revenue and lease transactions, business combinations, debt and equity instruments, pensions, consolidations and other non-routine accounting transactions
Present and explain the implications of various types of transactions to business partners and leaders across Zayo, including senior management and executives
Develop, document and educate others on Zayo’s accounting policies
Support the external audit process, including coordinating requests for support, responding to auditor inquiries and assisting with other audit-related matters as required
Assist in initiating, implementing and executing process improvements and controls
Oversee the preparation and submission of certain statistical and regulatory filings
Participate in other projects as necessary, including offerings for debt or equity instruments
Qualifications
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Actively licensed CPA
Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of national public accounting experience or a combination of public accounting and industry experience with SEC reporting experience
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting and filing requirements
Ability to research, analyze and synthesize conclusions for various accounting and financial reporting issues
Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and exercise judgment in a fast paced and changing environment
Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and produce quality work while dealing with interruptions
Strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills
