About the role

Description

Work for one of the most beautiful places in Nashville! Formerly the family home of Mabel and Leslie Cheek, Cheekwood now serves the public as a botanical garden, arboretum, and museum with period rooms and art galleries. Cheekwood’s mission is to stimulate the mind and nurture the spirit, for not only our visitors, but our staff as well. We are currently seeking a TOTS Proctor to join our team. The TOTS Proctor supports the Director of School & Youth Programs in running the TOTS drop- in program.


Primary Responsibilities: 

· Assists Director of School & Youth Programs and Education Coordinator with running drop-in parent/guardian toddler program

· Responsible for bringing the program supplies out into the garden and back in at the end of the program.

· Responsible for the set-up and break-down of program supplies, equipment, and signage

· Monitors both components of the program: Storytime and the Art/Garden Activity

· Informs guests of additional programming when applicable: GROWS, Wellness, Turtle Talks, etc.

· Greets and monitors the volunteers assisting with the program.

· Tracks daily attendance for story time and the art/garden activity.

· Communicates with visitors of all ages.

· Assists in material prep, testing future projects, creating scavenger hunts, and additional tasks related to the TOTS program.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

· At least 18 years of age

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Experience working in early childhood education.

· Excellent customer service skills

· Strong public speaking skills

· Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

· Must work well without supervision.

· Able to multitask well.

· Strong organizational skills

· Must have the ability work outdoors in all weather conditions


 Required Work Schedule and Hours: 

· TOTS! runs June 7 – August 31st (Tues and Saturdays only) and September 3 - October 26, 2024, (Tuesday through Saturday), 10 am –12 pm

· Applicants must be available 9 am – 1 pm on the days they are scheduled to run the program.

· Orientation dates to take place in the weeks leading up to the program beginning.
