Overview

Cardiac Sonographer - Stony Brook Internists, UFPC  

Location: Southampton, NY

Schedule: Full Time

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5 PM ; evenings and weekends may be required

Pay: $40.87 - $51.08

Responsibilities

SUMMARY: The Cardiac Sonographer provides high quality patient care utilizing the skills and knowledge of the profession.

 

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

  • Performs echocardiograms and Vascular Ultrasound in accordance with established practices and procedures.
  • Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning and imaging techniques to optimize the quality of ultrasound images.
  • Must safely perform all patient care responsibilities in accordance with professional standards and the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
  • Explains procedure in easy-to-understand terms based on professional knowledge to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety.
  • Sets-up equipment to administer the particular procedure in a timely fashion
  • Must effectively determine and set priorities to meet patient needs.
  • Provide proper and accurate documentation of patient care in the patient medical record.
  • Ensures that patients receive timely and appropriate care
  • Maintains infection control precautions and identifies potential infection control problems.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance activities within the Department.
  • Participates in annual recertification training, compliance training, and HIPAA training, as well as all other mandatory in-service programs.
  • Conforms to policies and regulations governing patient rights and confidentiality of information.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Obtain 15 hours of echo related CME over a 3 year period

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree with completion of ultrasound program
  • 2 years related experience in an Outpatient Practice setting

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is active and requires the employee to constantly move about in the office to assist patients, staff and medical providers. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
