Guidelines Middle Office -Vice President

About the role

The Guidelines Management team oversees investment guidelines for all firm products, including Fixed Income, Equity, Alternatives, Passive Investments, Multi Asset Solutions, and Currency. They ensure accuracy and compliance by collaborating with portfolio and risk managers, traders, and client advisors. The team advises on guideline language, supports coding and monitoring, and leads strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

As a Vice President in the Guidelines Middle Office team, you will have the opportunity to lead the US GFICC Product Asset Class for the GMC JPMAM team and manage all aspects of the guideline management workflow within the product group. In this role, you play a crucial part in safeguarding our clients against transactions that violate regulatory and client-directed obligations. You will also have the chance to spearhead initiatives to promote efficiency, mitigate risk, and meet regulatory mandates. This role will allow you to leverage your experience with technical improvements, including testing front and middle office applications, and your excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with senior business members.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and client guidelines while enhancing quality and reducing administrative burdens through innovative solutions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of business strategies to effectively deliver guideline requirements.
  • Establish best-in-class guideline coding and testing practices to minimize manual intervention by investors.
  • Implement solutions to address issues and challenges raised by business stakeholders.
  • Enhance the effectiveness of the Guidelines team function in the region.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in offshore locations to maintain a cohesive operating model.
  • Provide pre-trade monitoring support.
  • Participate in projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct Guideline Administrative Reviews (GAR) for newly funded accounts and guideline revisions.
  • Manage a small team.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:

  • Extensive experience with the Sentinel system or similar guideline monitoring applications such as Charles River, Linedata, Aladdin, Thinkfolio, etc.
  • Exceptional skills in prioritization, urgency, execution, and delivery, with a track record of driving process improvements and efficiencies in a dynamic business environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of investment products and processes, along with a comprehensive understanding of market practices, and the ability to develop strategic, business-driven solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to forge strong, collaborative partnerships with Business, Technology, and other key stakeholders, and to work effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Innovative and creative thought leader with outstanding problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong focus on oversight and control.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Tableau.
  • Strong database management skills, including experience with Sybase, Oracle, and MS Access.
  • Familiarity with intelligent automation tools like Alteryx and programming languages such as Python is a plus.
