About the role

Role Description

At Dropbox, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is instrumental to everything we do, from how we shape our culture, to how we think about our business and our relationships with customers. We want Dropbox employees to reach their full potential, and we believe fostering DEI helps further the long-term success of our business.

The Head of DEI at Dropbox will be responsible for creating and implementing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives throughout the company. We are looking for a results-driven, hands-on leader who loves to design and implement forward-thinking approaches to building a diverse community and inclusive environment in a Virtual First world. With a strong foundation in place, we seek a leader who can build on our existing programs and practices, as well as innovate and bring new approaches we may not have considered. This will include assessment of current state, recommendations for future programs, and ensuring DEI is woven into our culture and practices as Dropbox continues to grow and scale.

Responsibilities

Dropbox’s Head of DEI will develop strategies to ensure we continue to embed diversity, equity and inclusion into Dropbox’s day-to-day operations, practices, processes and employee lifecycle. Specifically, you will:
  • Develop a holistic DEI strategy to support our three Diversity commitments: build a diverse team, develop and advance equitably, and engage in personal growth
  • Design programming and practices to ensure all employees are equipped to welcome diverse perspectives, facilitate equitable outcomes, and foster an environment of inclusivity and belonging in a Virtual First world
  • Build and refine programs to support the attraction, hiring, development, and retention of diverse talent
  • Provide strategic council, thought leadership and partnership around DEI trends and areas of opportunity to key business partners across the organization, including our CEO and Executive Leadership team
  • Develop a data-driven approach in order to inform goals and measure effectiveness of DEI initiatives
  • Partner closely with HR cross-functional teams including Talent Acquisition, Employer Brand, HR Business Partners, Total Rewards, and L&D to ensure DEI best practices are woven into all elements of the employee lifecycle
  • Partner with Employment Legal as we navigate the changing external landscape and the Communications team to amplify the DEI narrative
  • Inspire, lead and develop a high performing team of DEI professionals
  • Serve as an advocate and ambassador for all Dropboxers, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and the diverse communities that make Dropbox great
  • Be a spokesperson for Dropbox internally and externally, and possess the ability to converse fluently on a wide variety of topics (including facilitation of high-stakes and/or challenging discourse)

Requirements

  • 12+ years experience implementing diversity and inclusion programs in complex organizations
  • 6+ years managing successful partnerships and advocacy with Employee Resource Groups
  • Track record of developing a company-wide DEI strategy, getting buy in on goals and outcomes, and building cross functional programs/initiatives from the ground floor
  • Scrappiness and ability to dig into the details in order to build and design world class DEI programs and practices
  • Proven ability to build sustainable relationships and influence across the organization, at every level and function
  • Passion and energy for innovation and the ability to evangelize DEI strategy internally and externally
  • Strong business acumen and deep understanding of how to tie DEI goals to business strategy and outcomes
  • Confidence and ability to coach senior executives including our CEO
  • Ability to manage and influence change; comfortable challenging existing norms and practices and be resilient in the face of setbacks
  • Ability to navigate sensitive, complex issues and conflict with poise and sound judgment
  • Expertise in diversity metrics, benchmarking, and reporting; ability to translate data into strategy and action plans and leverage research and analytics to inform decisions
  • Deep understanding of the highly competitive technical labor market

Total Rewards

Dropbox takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location/metropolitan area, skillset, and peer compensation.  We target most new hire offers between the minimum up to the middle of the range.
