Description

  

Lifeworks is seeking a Payroll Tax Accountant. The Payroll Tax Accountant will be responsible for the organization’s payroll taxes including accurate and timely tax reports and remitting the proper amount due to the appropriate governmental agency. Also processing payroll as needed.


Position Title: Payroll Tax Accountant

Department: Finance

Hours: Full-time 40hours/week, Monday – Friday (Exempt)

Location: Lifeworks Services – Richfield MN/ [20]% in-person

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000/year

How you’ll be spending your time:

  • Accurately calculate and deposit timely all state and federal payroll taxes. Calculate withholding taxes. 
  • Administers and supports the Fiscal Employer / Employer Agent setup of new employers and transfer of employers between Financial Management Service providers and to ensure all employers follow IRS Section 3504 and associated state and federal regulations as it pertains to household employers.
  • Prepare quarterly federal forms 940, 941,941x, schedules R and B, MN department of revenue quarterly withholding tax return, and MN unemployment wage detail reporting for Lifeworks and all household employers.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal payroll tax regulations and filing local, state, and federal payroll tax returns with knowledge of household employers. 
  • Ensures compliance of coverage and brokers as needed the worker’s compensation insurance for all household employers.
  • Effectively research, track, and resolve payroll tax issues in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with personnel and management.
  • Demonstrate initiative by proactively seeking ways to improve processes and procedures.
  • Processes new employer set ups.
  • Assist and support biweekly Payroll processing and employee inquiries as needed.
  • Define great performance for self and seeks to continually develop skills to improve performances. 
  • Follow safety procedures and assist in identifying safety needs for self and others. 
  • Contribute to the organization’s mission by complying with policies and procedures, using resources wisely and performing other duties as assigned as necessary.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field with 3 years of tax and in-house payroll experience or a combination of education and experience to equal seven.
