Job Summary

Responsible for managing, supervising and coordinating the activities of the MRI & CT departments in order  to institute and maintain the highest quality images protocols under the direction and supervision of the attending radiologist. Ability  to perform MRI or CT exams of selected portions of the human anatomy, under the direction of radiologists. Provides QA oversight for MRI & CT departments. Performs the duties of the supervisor while following the guidelines outlined in the Service expectations policy.
 

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Associate Degree in health related field; Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
Minimum Years of Experience: 5 Years of successful work experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computed Tomography or combination of both modalities.
Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT, MR or Computed Tomography; Current CPR certification or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Required Training: Proficiency in venipuncture.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates competence to provide developmentally appropriate care/treatment for the following patient population:
    • Infant (Birth to 1 year)  
    • Child (1 year through 12 years) 
    • Adolescent (13 years through 17 years) 
    • Adult (18 years to 65 years)          
    • Geriatric (over 65 years)
  • Provides leadership and supervision of the assigned staff to provide for production of high quality images and excellent patient care.
  • Collects department statistical exam information.
  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
  • Maintain ACR accreditation on all MRI & CT scanners.
  • Assist Physicist with yearly QA testing
  • Ensures QC is maintained according to ACR standards
  • Perform audits of exams for quality improvement analysis and reports findings to Medical Director and Director of Imaging Services.
  • Ensures that the MRI & CT departments are compliant with all regulatory requirements to include ACR, DNV and DHEC and maintains readiness for successful inspection.
  • Maintains departmental protocol book along with the radiologist. Ensuring it  is reviewed and up to date.
  • Creates and manages the staffing schedule to include vacations and time off requests, and ensures the department is staffed as needed.
  • Reports and documents problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, and procedures in consultation with the Director of Imaging  Services, and Human Resources when applicable.
  • Monitors condition, care, and maintenance of department equipment. Maintains documentation of problems, response time of service, and completion of repair.
  • Maintains Kronos time recording and entry.
  • Assists with interviewing prospective new employees of the MRI & CT department.
  • Coordinates and participates in new employee orientation.
  • Coordinates activities of and supervises personnel, including planning, directing and controlling charge procedures.
  • Responsible for disciplinary counseling and documentation.
  • Performs and documents performance evaluations at  required intervals
  • Knowledge of proper fire and safety evacuations and ensures staff is educated accordingly
  • Observes condition of patients while in the Department and contact
