Senior Application Scientist

Job Summary

The Senior Application Scientist is a critical role in the Health Applications team supporting new application and formulation development for customer and internal innovation projects. The Senior Application Scientist will independently manage various projects working with existing and new Bioscience ingredients and you are making an impact with customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To succeed in this position, the candidate should be able to perform the following tasks, including but not limited to:

Independently manage technical projects, coordinating with other professionals and drives the new innovation projects from research stage to application.
Implement standards across the projects and communicate the project progress and outcomes.
Ensure good documentation of technical development plan, project risks, compliance, product related documents, etc.
Identify, assess, develop and modify application concepts and/or technologies for new Bioscience ingredients including packaging and excipients selection to address new market needs.
Study the interaction and evaluate the performance of new Bioscience ingredients with existing product portfolio.
Design technical experiments in collaboration with R&D and application teams cross global business units.
Assists the organization with environmental and regulatory product issues, product improvements, competitive positioning of existing product offering and New Business Developments into Bioscience.
Works closely with marketing, by providing VOC relative to science, product performance and expectations of product attributes.
Technical resource for the new Bioscience ingredients to sales professionals, customers and other internal/external partners, for example, contract manufacturers, quality, regulation and operation.

Job Requirements

MSc with 10+ years, or PhD with 7+ years in Pharmaceutical or Food Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Life Sciences.

Proven track record of accomplishments in dietary supplement or pharmaceutical formulation or product development experience as evidenced by the business impact.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with probiotic powders and/or bioscience actives
• Deep understanding of formats and raw material suppliers and grades of materials for dietary supplement and/or pharmaceutical applications
• Experience in a Dietary Supplements or Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
• Understanding of Dietary Supplements and Pharmaceutical regulatory requirements
• Good understanding of packaging materials and analytical methods to assess performance
• Practical experience scaling-up processes from lab through commercial scale
