JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office (SIRO) at Penn State is seeking a Project Manager for the PA Department of Health (DoH) Commonwealth Universal Research Enhancement Program (CURE).
SIRO is a research administration unit that is part of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research (OSVPR). The OSVPR is responsible for facilitating the $1.01 billion-per-year research enterprise at Penn State by working with a broad range of units across the University. The mission of the OSVPR is to support a rigorous program of faculty and student research and creative accomplishment by enhancing the environment for scholarly and artistic endeavors, encouraging the highest standards of quality, and fostering ethical conduct in research. SIRO's mission is to provide direct support for strategic multi-college and multi-institutional research efforts.
This specialized position is dedicated to the management of the CURE Program formula awards. The CURE Program has provided Penn State with over $120 million in its 20 years of operation. Each year we are eligible to apply for funding based on the amount of our NIH expenditures and the tobacco settlement dollars available. For state fiscal year 2021 this amount was just under $5.5 million. The CURE program is implemented by the PA Department of Health (DoH) and has extensive reporting requirements. Thus, the liaison position provides the overall management for the University ensuring compliance with program guidelines, efficient and timely response to requests from the DoH and support for investigators and research administration to promote excellence in health sciences research.
The Project Manager will work closely with leadership in the College of Medicine and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and will report to the SIRO Associate Director, Project Management. This individual is responsible for soliciting, providing guidance, coordinating, developing, reviewing and submitting all administrative, financial and reporting aspects of the CURE program to the PA DoH. The position will also support the management of a yearly proposal requiring complex budgeting and proposal development for successful submission to DOH.
Responsibilities: Managing up to four active DOH formula grants with each having up to 15 unique research projects per grants per year, this is a multi-year, multi-project, faculty-led activity. The individual in this position will ensure that all aspects of complex financial, reporting, management are in conformance and meet deadlines. Respon
