Position Overview
We are seeking a Product Developer with a strong background in building materials and building envelope products (such as windows, doors, roofing, siding, or insulation systems), along with broad mechanical design and product development experience. This role will support new product innovation, improve existing product lines, and ensure products meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of new products for the residential building materials and envelope sector (e.g., windows, doors, siding, roofing systems, insulation, hardware).
- Contribute to innovation initiatives, patents, and competitive benchmarking.
- Conduct material selection, testing, and validation of prototypes and production parts.
- Manage and lead projects with cross-functional teams. Ensure adherence to timelines, quality, and budgets to deliver products to market successfully.
- Collaborate with suppliers, factories (domestic and international), and cross-functional teams (R&D, product management, quality, supply chain).
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, ASTM/ANSI standards, and customer requirements.
- Provide technical support for product launches, field issues, and customer feedback.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in product design, development, or testing—preferably in home/building envelope products (windows, doors, roofing, siding, insulation, or related hardware).
- Basic skills in CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) and engineering analysis (FEA, thermal, structural).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (extrusion, injection molding, stamping, casting, assembly).
- Knowledge of building codes, materials testing, and certification standards (e.g., ASTM, NFRC, AAMA, ICC).
- Proven ability to take projects from concept to production.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience working with overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers a plus.
