GENERAL FUNCTION:

In a high risk area of Securities, under minimal supervision, performs a wide variety of Cashiering functions at a high level.  Maintains a thorough knowledge of all Cashiering functions, workflows, and responsibilities.  Helps ensure that the Cashiering Department adheres to all policies and procedures thus reducing risk. Responsible for the overall level of service, accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism of the Cashiering Department. Primary contact for first level escalated cashiering issues. Assists the Cashiering Manager with prioritizing and managing workflow within the Cashiering Team.

Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for mitigating risk for Fifth Third Securities (FTS) as it relates to all Cashiering activities including Margin, Securities received, ESOP, Corporate Actions, Check Deposit, All Money Movement Functions including wire transfers, and reconciliation research.

  • Plans, assigns, and monitors the workflow of the department, maintaining optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness to ensure all service level agreements (SLAs) with internal and external customers are met daily.

  • Resolves inquiries from internal and external customers regarding Cashiering processes and escalated matters.

  • Manages processing of customer funds and securities positions to ensure accurate and timely deposit and distributions in accordance with FINRA Rule 15C3-3.

  • Analyzes and approves daily fee waiver requests.

  • Ensures that all processes and records are kept in accordance with SEC, and FINRA rules and regulations.

  • Delegates Cashiering resources to accommodate fluctuations in daily and seasonal processing volumes.

  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the Brokerage business, staying informed relative to the industry regulations and standards.

  • Provides direct coverage of all Cashiering processes in the event of staffing shortages or time away.

  • Assists with onboarding and training for new team members.

  • Efficient in learning and operating multiple computer systems including mainframe based systems.

  • Writes and reviews area operations procedures, making recommendations to improve productivity.

  • Partners with other managers within Brokerage Operations, as well as other business units to complete initiatives.

  • Monitors and approves money and wire transfers in compliance with Cashiering procedures.  Also responsible for daily settlement with our clearing firm.

  • Ensures that the Cashiering department is performing at a high level while simultaneously following all industry rules and regulations thus mitigating risk.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required.

  • 2-3 years Brokerage experience.

  • FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, 66 licenses preferred

  • FINRA Series 24 preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft office products, such as Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Leadership skills, initiative, a detail orientation, strong analytical skills, and decisive decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment, presenting a professional image and commanding the respect of staff, peers, and senior management.

  • Ability to multi-task and excel in what can be a high volume and high stress environment.
