Job Duties

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as the Quality Assurance Pharmacist. The selected competitive candidate will provide exceptional delivery of services to the Office of Chief Medical Officer.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the quality of the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee functions, including the preparation and facilitation of meetings, the ongoing management of the Pharmacy Drug List (PDL), and the support and auditing of the supplemental and Federal rebate programs.

These duties require advanced claims auditing capabilities and a thorough understanding of both state and federal regulatory requirements.

This is a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary role suited for an independent and strategic leader who can drive innovation, ensure compliance, and foster accountability for both internal and external stakeholders.

Virginia pharmacist licensure is required within 90 days of hire.

The business needs for this position have in office requirements to include but are not limited to attending in-person meetings, external stakeholder meetings, and occasional conference attendance.

Minimum Qualifications

Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:

Knowledge of managed care pharmacy.

Experience working with pharmacy claims and related analytics.

Experience with functions of a Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Experience in creating and analyzing healthcare standards.

Experience with Microsoft Office.

Experience working with state and/or federal regulations.

Experience managing multiple priorities concurrently to meet deadlines.

Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience creating reports and presentations to convey complex information.

Current pharmacist license or the ability to attain licensure in Virginia within 3 months of hiring.

Additional Considerations

Competitive candidates should meet these additional considerations:

Experience in project management.

Experience in multiple pharmacy practice settings.
