JOB SUMMARY: Provide patient care services to employees and dependents (ages 2+) of a specific employer by independently and interdependently scheduling, supervising, and/or conducting complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; independently participate in the delivery of direct patient care within the scope of individual authority granted by the North Carolina State Boards of Medical Examiners and/or Nursing with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

Required to travel to limited sites in Winston -Salem, NC (Forsyth County)

Day shift (8-4:30p tentative schedule), no weekends, no major holidays 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

PA:

 -Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program, master’s degree preferred 

NP:

-Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, master’s degree or higher required

NP/PA:

-Minimum of one year of experience in a primary care or urgent/emergent care environment

 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: 

PA:

-Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License

-Certified by NCCPA

 

NP:

- Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license

-Board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
2. Collaborate with the medical team when needed for effective team-based care. 
3. Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
4. Perform and maintain competency for point-of-care testing as assigned, waived and/or non-waived, ensuring compliance with AHWFB policies and with applicable state and federal regulations.
5. Procedural skills per department or practice guidelines
6. Opportunity to participate in basic science and clinical research projects

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

1. One year of experience as a family nurse practitioner or physician assistant working in a primary care or urgent/emergent care environment
2. DOT FMCSA Medical Examiner Certification preferred
3. Current American Heart Assoc. BLS and/or ACLS
