The Opportunity
Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.
Our Core Lab business currently has an opportunity for a Senior Specialist, Project Management – R&D for our Irving, TX location.
The primary function of this position is to manage one or more projects with moderate complexity through the complete project lifecycle for Abbott’s Automation Solutions Business Unit.
Responsibilities
- Manage 1 or more projects with moderate complexity. Expedite, manage, and coordinate a multitude of interrelated activities within constraints of limited human and financial resources and changing priorities. Complies with quality system.
- Recognize the broader implications of actions and proposals on the final project outcome
- Coordinate input from multiple areas or multiple project managers on related projects.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders, business partners, and technical team members to ensure proper project plan alignment and delivery of high-quality projects
- Develop project objectives and strategies, develop timelines and milestones. Utilize project scheduling software to plan and track projects. Develop design and development plan.
- Identify resource requirements, cost, and time schedules. Develop an implementation plan, conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to accommodate unforeseen events.
- Prepare and present project progress reports to keep management and team informed. Identify problems and work to resolve them.
- Translate project goals into project tasks. Define the nature of the stated business or technical problem.
- Anticipate future problems, resolve current issues, and adjust based on prior results.
- Identify potential Project and Technical Risks and recommend mitigations.
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments
Education and Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Technical, or Business fields
- 3-5 years minimum experience in project management. Higher education may reduce required work experience.
Preferred
- Project management trainings or qualifications
- Demonstrated experience supporting technical teams (e.g., engineering, quality) with the ability to understand complex hardware and software issues and effectively drive their resolution
- Experience within the medical devices or diagnostics industry
- Experience with Microsoft Project and PowerBI
