The Senior Client Lead plays a critical role in setting the strategy, building our pipeline of opportunities, bolstering our reputation and championing both our brand and culture in the TSM field and transportation planning as a whole, with a preferred emphasis on the West Coast Region.

The Senior Client Lead will have responsibility for:

  • Developing a market strategy aligned with achieving overall firm goals, collaborating with TSM senior management and cross-functional teams to execute the strategy;
  • Building strategic relationships with existing and prospective priority clients and teaming partners in the region to represent the full capabilities of CS, including service offerings in TSM as well as broader offerings in transportation planning, analytics, and software, and to position for new work.
  • Leading projects across the TSM practice areas
The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of experience with 5-10 years of demonstrated success in growing a book of business and building a pipeline. They understand the current and emerging needs of clients nationwide and/or on the West Coast, and are highly skilled at positioning for, winning, managing, and delivering project work that exceeds client expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Business DevelopmentDevelops and executes effective market strategy that drives TSM growth •Builds and maintains long-term client relationships and actively listens to their needs •Actively positions CS for key opportunities in the region through close coordination with staff throughout the company •Develops win themes, teaming strategies, pricing strategies, and technical content for all proposals in area of responsibility •Contributes to sound bid/no-bid decisions •Maintains post-delivery communication with clients to ensure long-term satisfaction and to prospect for repeat/expanded business •Participates in regional, business unit, and other business development initiative meetings to identify and coordinate BD and marketing activities •Builds strong positive relationships with management, functional practice leads and senior consultants, and marketing & communications staff to develop winning proposals

Project Management & Project Delivery•Delivers all projects on-time, on-budget, and exceeds expectations of all stakeholders •Provides constructive and ongoing feedback to project team members •Provides clear direction to all project staff regarding project objectives and their role in achieving them •Develops and implements project delivery plan for each project •Updates project staffing in CS staffing program on time each month •Reviews and submits invoices and progress reports on time •Produces and delivers exceptional quality work that is thorough, polished, and reflects well on CS •Provides exceptional value-added service to project managers and/or clients and communicates consistently with internal and external team members •Actively listens and seeks to understand client or project manager needs •Meets chargeability expectations

 Position Requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, Transportation Economics, or a related area
  • 12+ years of industry-related experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects and leading proposals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong and effective communication, presentation, and technical writing skills 
  • A strong professional network in the transportation industry 

Preferred Qualifications   
  • Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, Transportation Economics, or a related area
  • Grant writing knowledge and/or experience
  • Located in (or willing to relocate to) Southern California 5
