About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing U.S. Federal Civilian Government business supporting the US Department Of Energy.

This position will be based out of the Washington, DC metro area (DC/VA/MD). This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.

As a Solutions Architect within AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to advance our customer’s mission through the use of AWS services (e.g. Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, HPC, etc.) You will accomplish this as part of a cross-functional team working together in support of the DOE mission.

Your broad responsibilities will include:
  • Owning the technical engagement and technical strategy with our customers.
  • Defining implementation architectures, responding to RFPs, developing a deep expertise both in AWS technologies, as well as the customer mission space.
  • Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.

The Solutions Architects on our team provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to the Federal Civilian Government markets while working with a sales and business development team. They lead efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solution architect community. You get to learn from, collaborate with, and educate some of the brightest technical minds in the industry today across the breadth of enterprise architecture!

Basic Qualifications


  • 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
