Marketing Assistant

Overview

Utah State Univeristy has an opening for a Marketing Assistant (Development Research Asst I). The purpose of this position is to jointly assist the Departments of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences (ADVS); and Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning (LAEP); in researching, communicating with, and stewardship of alumni and friends.

Responsibilities

• Creating and maintaining alumni newsletters and magazines.
• Developing and maintaining web site content
• Composing and disseminating regular social media, public relations, and marketing materials, as well as email updates
• Develop department news and research activities for broad dissemination and marketing
• Writing and communication support for faculty and graduate student scientific and project outputs
• Assisting with content and layout of department publications
• Assisting with department event planning and operations
• Assisting with planning of and conducting annual Advancement/Advisory Board meetings
• Communicating with departmental alumni boards regarding updates and proposals, including coordinating committee/co-chair calls
• Growing, updating and maintain alumni/donor records in collaboration with the CAAS and USU advancement offices
• Follow up with alumni and donors on questions, thanks and news
• General office duties in support of departmental faculty
• Work with other staff on joint projects
• Other duties as assigned

Special Instructions:Reporting will be directly to the respective department heads of ADVS and LAEP. The specific distribution of the duties listed above will vary between the two departments, and will be determined by the respective department head. Weekly work hours will be 40, split approximately equally between the two departments, though when needed, more time may be devoted to one department with mutual agreement of the department heads. with options for flexibility in hours as needed. Position will be located at USU’s main Logan campus.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Four years of office support experience OR a Bachelor's degree OR applicable certificate plus 2 years of directly related office experience.

• Must have a strong understanding of the English language, including spelling, grammar, and letter writing; and excellent proofreading and editing skills.

• Proficient in MS Office.

• Proficient in graphic design and publication software.

• Willingness to undertake necessary training needed to perform job functions or to enhance job performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• Website creation and/or management experience.
• Experience with graphic design, publications, and/or marketing.
• Familiarity with USU policies and procedures.
• Experience with USU Banner and/or Millenium

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to solve problems and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently with limited supervision.
• Strong organizational skills
