The Division of Hematology and Oncology is recruiting a full-time Research Scientist, in the laboratory of Leukemia and Drug Development Laboratory (LDDL), to help conduct research in hematology. We are seeking individuals of all degrees and have a high level of competency in research but may not have an independent research program. The LDDL is in the CARE/Crawley building on University of Cincinnati’s East Campus. We are a collaborative team focused on studying etiology, pathogenesis, treatment, and cure of hematological malignancies.

Essential Functions

• Document and organize research results and data according to NIH’s preferred good laboratory management practices (LabArchives) and University of Cincinnati Laboratory Information Management software (UCLIMS).  
• Assist with the coordination of research studies in hematology.
• Contribute to projects and studies based on evidence-based literature.
• Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpretation of data, and validity of testing using FCS Express or relevant flow cytometry software.
• Maintain timely project goals, deadlines, and studies for contributions to publications and grant funding applications.
• Independently complete spectral flow cytometry experiments (20+ color) and associated data analysis, annotating, and organizing to extract biological and statistical knowledge.
• Apply scientific skills and knowledge to demonstrate technical capabilities of flow cytometry.
• Analyze and communicate results and data analysis from in a timely manner from flow cytometry experiments.
• Contribute to collective team effort.

Required Education

PhD and/or MD required.

Required Experience

Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.

Additional Qualifications Considered

• Molecular biology techniques:
  • General cell culture techniques
  • Processing human biospecimens.
  • Tissue culture and related wet lab techniques (i.e. western blotting, immune functional assays, cell viability assays).
  • Next Gen Sequencing technologies.
  • Some animal handling and tissue processing.
• Three to five years+ of in-depth knowledge of translational research laboratory practices.
• Experience with specialized software (i.e. Microsoft Suite, Labarchives, GraphPad, Endnote).
