Position Summary:

The Director of Nursing (DON) is a key member of the hospital’s leadership team, responsible for overseeing all nursing operations and ensuring high standards of patient care across all departments. The DON will provide strategic direction, leadership, and guidance to nursing staff, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff across all patient care areas.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and recruitment to ensure adequate coverage and quality care.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, department leaders, and administration to enhance patient outcomes and service quality.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
  • Manage nursing department budgets, resources, and performance metrics.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based practice.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and executive leadership.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the State of Michigan.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing, preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, preferably in a rural or critical access hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing standards, regulations, and quality improvement processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to the needs of a rural healthcare environment.
