Job Description
In a time of unprecedented expansion, we are seeking an Accounting Manager to supervise, track and evaluate the day-to-day activities of our General Ledger team. In this role, you will be responsible for various accounting functions including ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue and asset accounting—as well as associated analysis and reporting. The position also requires leading a team of staff associates in general ledger accounting. The ideal candidate is able to evaluate and make improvements to accounting processes while ensuring that practices comply with Lakeshore’s accounting policies and applicable laws and regulations. Applicants also should possess a strategic mindset, excellent people-management skills and an in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. A day in the office looks like this:
- Developing staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training and maintaining strong relationships with associates
- Establishing internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation
- Reviewing and recommending modifications to accounting systems and processes
- Performing variance and fluctuations analysis
- Preparing monthly operating financials and ad hoc reporting
- Auditing accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinating with outside auditors and providing needed information for annual external audit
- Presenting recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies
- Achieving operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic accounting plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; and implementing change
- Ensuring compliance with local, state and federal government requirements
Qualifications
Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- 5+ years as an Accountant with at least 1-3 years of supervisory experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Superb organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in accounting and tax preparation software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Strong sense of urgency
- Great accuracy and attention to detail
