Security Officer

Pay: From $15.05 per hour, but our posts average above $16 per hour.  The pay is based on the site and the contract.

Overview

We are seeking dedicated Flex/On-Call Security Officers to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients, employees, and visitors. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong conflict management skills, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies. The Flex Officer will be responsible for monitoring premises, enforcing rules, and ensuring the safety of all individuals on site. This specific position requires the selectee to be "on-call". You tell us when you are available, and we won't call you outside of those times/days. We are currently in need of officers that can cover day shifts, and overnight shifts throughout the week. A candidate that has open availability will be given priority in the hiring process.

Minimum qualifications:

• MUST HAVE A FL STATE ISSUED CLASS "D" SECURITY LICENSE, OR BLUE CARD
• MUST BE OVER 21 YEARS OLD
• MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE AND CLEAN MVR
• MUST READ, WRITE, SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND ENGLISH FLUENTLY
• MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION (A SHARED VEHICLE OR RIDE SHARING WILL NOT FULFILL THIS REQUIREMENT)
• MUST PASS PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING
• MUST COMPLETE PRE-EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENT EXAM

Responsibilities

• Accurate and consistent data entry skills are a must for any of our positions.
• Must accept offered shifts in your specified availability. Two consecutive shift denials will result in the officer's termination.
• Monitor and patrol assigned areas to ensure safety and security.
• Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, assessing situations and taking appropriate action.
• Conduct regular surveillance using CCTV systems to identify potential security breaches.
• Enforce property/facility rules and regulations while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Document incidents and prepare reports on any irregularities or disturbances.
• Collaborate with state and local law enforcement agencies, when necessary, to address security concerns.
• Assist in loss prevention efforts by identifying suspicious activities or behaviors.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is preferred.
• Strong conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems.
• Knowledge of loss prevention techniques is an advantage.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in emergencies.
• Excellent observational skills with attention to detail.
• Must be physically able to perform duties that may require standing, sitting, walking or crouching for extended periods or responding quickly to incidents and emergencies.

This position is under the direct supervision of the Account Manager or Branch Manager and is responsible for protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and visitors to assigned sites.
