Job Description
Job Summary
To provide efficiently, quality baked goods to university students, employees, and guests. This position will specifically work on the Cougar Tail Production Crew.
Note: This is a part-time position (28 hours per week).
What you'll do in this role:
Learn bakery standard operations procedures
Production of cakes, breads, desserts for the campus dining operations Completing training and food safety courses per CSC requirements
Cleaning and sanitizing bakery equipment and preparation surfaces
Supervise part-time and student employees
Produce cakes, breads, cookies, desserts
Print recipes for the day and instruct students on proper preparation methods
Ensure consistency by supervising baking processes closely and teaching students about product standards
Work alongside students as required
Direct cleaning and sanitizing as required
Utilize computerized inventory/ ordering system to establish production schedules
Using daily production report, determine products, batch sizes, and completion deadlines for assigned area of responsibility
Determine personnel needs for each product
Deploy student workers as efficiently as possible
Verify product inventories
Check raw ingredient inventory levels to make sure enough is on hand to complete daily production
Work with Receiving Specialist to fill inventory needs I necessary
Count final production quantities to make sure enough has been produced to fill the orders
Prep and organize orders
Inspect final products for quality and consistency
Sort orders by delivery location
Double check orders
Deliver orders to loading dock area before delivery deadline
Mentor student employees
Teach students good work habits: arrive on time, work efficiently, no horseplay, etc.
Teach students about proper food handling procedures
Teach students about baking techniques
What Qualifies you for this role:
Minimum education/experience required:
Strong customer service, accountability, and ownership skills
Culinary aptitude: 1 year experience with baking, cooking, or related field
Preferred: Culinary school graduate
5 years full-time equivalent bakery production experience or culinary certification/degree from accredited culinary school
A physical exam is required as a part of the hiring process for this position.
Physical Effort:
Moderate – Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions.
Environment:
Moderate exposure to unfavorable conditions.
